This workshop is an evidence-based approach to the nicotine impact on neurological chemistry and structure, subsequent drug dependency risks, and a better opportunity for full recovery from 2 dangerous drugs after full nicotine cessation, addressed to residents in faith settings from a wide-spectrum of faith communities. There are 4 parts to the full presentation, each one lasting approximately 90 minutes. For Partner’s in Prevention, I have edited the format for a single, 40-minute, presentation; leaving time for introductions, Q&A, and evaluations. The 4 sections include 3 separate learning objectives:
- An updated review of literature showing a direct and even causal relationship between adolescent nicotine use and the development of other drug dependencies and/or addictions. This section could be described as the “health” portion and includes the latest research into vape products. It also includes a photo essay contrasting life for people in their 50’s and 60’s that do and do not use nicotine products.
- The second section focuses on the benefits of nicotine cessation using materials from a number of respected medical journals.
- The final section addresses the faith component and a 7-step decision making process formulated by Dr. Womack years ago, when he was dealing with his own alcohol issues.
